About the TV Channel Театр

Театр is a Russian 24-hour cultural and educational television channel entirely dedicated to theatrical art in Russia and around the world. It began broadcasting on 27 March 2011, World Theatre Day, and became the first Russian thematic channel of its kind. Its schedule features dramatic and musical productions, operas, ballets, puppet shows, documentary films, creative evenings, interviews, and masterclasses. Viewers can discover productions by renowned theatres, learn about major premieres, festivals, and tours, and watch conversations with actors, directors, playwrights, theatre critics, and designers. Special attention is given to the history of theatre, poetry, drama, stage design, costume creation, and work behind the scenes. Reports from rehearsals, archive recordings, professional discussions, and original projects provide a deeper understanding of how performances are created and how their directors’ ideas are brought to life. A significant part of the schedule consists of the channel’s own productions about contemporary theatrical life and the preservation of cultural heritage. The channel broadcasts in high definition and will appeal to professionals and all fans of the performing arts. Watch the Театр TV channel online in high quality on VitsTV.
